I reused some footage from a shoot I did for a luxury apartment company in NYC called Related.com. The empty apartment stuff and the sounds of NYC reminded me of a very lonely place. I think it is in these places sometimes that we think on our mortality.

Video putting the tough and rugged outer image of the Carhartt brand aside for a day and letting advertising agency staff tell their stories about how the brand is personally significant.

Mini commercial for Clek, Magna’s designer booster seats for kids. Focusing on lifestyle and storytelling first, so to allow the product to breathe without bombarding the viewer with it.
This was my first time using one of those 35mm lens adapters for the Panasonic HVX for a shoot for Related.com via Organic NYC. We were doing a piece promoting luxury apartments in the Chelsea district. Manning that camera with all the added weight was a bit unnerving, especially on the ledge of a 20 story building. Loving the Empire State Building in the background though!
On the way back to Detroit, I was just through security check at LaGuardia and who rolls up behind me but the one and only LL Cool J. All my middle and high school memories came flooding back of blasting tracks from Bigger and Deffer, Radio, and Mama Said Knock You Out in my GPX brand walkman with “Dynamic Bass Boost” as I could not afford the nice yellow Sony sports walkman. Of course I didn’t have the guts to say anything so I watched as other people followed him around, cell phones in hand. I snapped this one real quick:
An amazing microsite campaign for the Jeep Patriot whilst working at Organic, Inc. in Detroit. I was the video editor on this particular project. Production was put together by Go! Films and Directed by Andrews Jenkins. We spent a week on the Disney Ranch in SoCal shooting and editing various scenes to tell the Way Beyond Trail story.
Amazing creative team, actors, characters, and storyline culminate into an amazing “Choose your own adventure” style digital experience. Big props to Sam Cannon, Adam Wilson, Trevor Naud, Jason Szott, Paul Peruta and the rest of the account and digital team in assembling and creating such a daunting and amazing web experience. With every reel I have done there has been an underlying story, revealing not only a varietal “body of work”, but a semi-autobiographical threading element for an added curiosity toward both the work and myself as a filmmaker. Here is the 2009. Archived.
Was privileged to be flown into Detroit where the original 1964 Aston Martin from the James Bond film “Goldfinger” was temporarily being housed as it needed to be shot and promoted for an epic auction at Sotheby’s in London. I was asked to direct, DP, and edit some stylized videos of the car and all its working gadgets for a microsite designed to build buzz for the event. This video is a montage of the work, starting with the intro animation and moving into a gadget montage. This video also demonstrates the user interface for the site.
The car sold for 4.2 million at the auction and the website won Best Digital Media Microsite at the 2011 Detroit advertising awards “D” Show. View my behind the scenes blog post of this shaken but not stirred adventure.
Summer shenanigans at the infamous Duncan family cabin in Heath, Ohio. The preceding video covers two separate trips to the cabin within a week this past summer 2010. One was a family get together, the other was my wife Nikki’s birthday/Fourth of July. The following are a couple of photo sets from that amazing week. Music by the Black Keys and The Pixies.
